These bridges I’ve crossed,
At least a thousand times.
The stones that follow,
Just won’t stay behind.
Everytime I get across,
Another stands in the way,
I burnt these bridges,
And stood before them,
And watched them melt away.
The relief I felt,
When I looked at the ashes,
The pain is gone,
The suffering, the lashes.
I’ll look upon them someday soon,
And wish it weren’t that way.
I shouldn’t have burnt these bridges,
I know I’ll need to cross someday.
